(S)-(-)-1,2,4-Butanetriol may be used as a starting material in the enantioselective total syntheses of (+)-azimine and (+)-carpaine. (S)-(-)-1,2,4-Butanetriol is a general reagent used in organic synthesis. Used in the enantioselective preparation of a cyclobutane analogue of Milnacipran.
